Duties of the Role

  • Be competent in MIG, TIG, Stick Welding
  • Servicing, repairing and refurbishing heavy plant equipment
  • Read and understand engineering drawings
  • Perform engine and hydraulic services and inspections on plant machinery
  • Consider a very ‘hands on’ role that involves overseeing all work to ensure quality is consistently achieved with regard to servicing, repairing, and refurbishing of heavy plant equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, pneumatics, and 12- & 24‑volt electrics
  • Responsible for ensuring Health and Safety standards are always adhered to
  • Recycling role involves new pre‑delivery inspections (PDI), demo/hire preparation and refurbishment of slow, medium, and high‑speed shredders, ECS units, windshifters and trommels that use Hass and Vechoplan shredding chambers and conveyor systems
  • Fault finding and repair of mechanical faults
  • Advising the parts department of stock requirement for new products
  • Estimate refurbishment costs and production time for traded‑in stock
  • Estimate delivery times and liaise with the sales team and transport department
  • Record and raise all PDI and warranty issues so that the cost can be recouped
  • Converse with the manufactures design team regarding specific issues, log evidence with detailed reports

  • Minimum 2 years\’ experience working within a Fabrication / Welding role
