My client in the Doncaster area require an experienced Plater / Welder. Ideally from an apprentice trained or time served background.

Responsibility and Duties:

  • Working from supplied drawings & sketches to complete fabrication and welding of projects varying in complexity.
  • Ability to manufacture and repair components from pattern parts including identification and replacement of damaged / worn parts as required.
  • Measuring and marking out plate and sections for cutting, shaping and drilling.
  • Using varying workshop tools, plant and machinery.
  • Ensure tolerances and parameters are met to satisfy quality and output.
  • Ensure production timings and required deadlines are met.
  • Follow company rules and adhere to procedures & Health and Safety standards.
  • Work as part of a team to produce orders on time and within customer expectation/quality requirements.
  • Carry out and record daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and safety checks as required.
  • Ensure correct marking up of component parts.

Person Specifications:

  • Experience in working with carbon steel (3mm to 25mm) and stainless steel (3mm and above).
  • Demonstration of previous welding experience via codings (current or lapsed), with varying positions desirable (MAG / 135 essential & MMA / 111 Desirable).
  • Proficient in the use of power tools and hand tools for metal fabrication.
  • Ability to work under company Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) desirable.
  • Reasonable understanding of weld defects under visual inspection desirable.
  • Prior understanding of mechanical components and assembly desirable.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team is essential.
  • A good work ethic and attitude.
