My client in the Dronfield area require an experienced Sales Estimator. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate quotations for laser cutting, folding, fabrication and welding across a wide range of industries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills and manufacturing knowledge to contribute to a fast-paced and customer-focused environment.

Duties of the Role

  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and technical information to prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations.
  • Calculate material, labour, finishing, and subcontract costs for sheet metal fabrication projects.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and outsourced processes.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure estimates are realistic and achievable.
  • Prepare detailed quotations within customer deadlines while maintaining company margin targets.
  • Update and revise quotations as project requirements change.
  • Assist with job costing and continuous improvement of estimating processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of quotations, customer information, and estimating data.
  • Support sales and customer service teams with technical and pricing queries.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in estimating within sheet metal fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing environments.
  • Good understanding of fabrication processes including laser cutting, bending/folding, welding, and finishing would be preferred but is not essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD files.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating / ERP software.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple enquiries and work to tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium would be advantageous.
  • Engineering or manufacturing background preferred but not essential.
