A leading M&E contractor based in Chelmsford is looking to recruit a motivated and ambitious Junior Mechanical Estimator to join their growing commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the building services industry, working alongside experienced estimators on a wide range of high-profile commercial projects valued up to £3 million. Our client is a well-established Mechanical & Electrical contractor delivering high-quality projects across multiple sectors, including:
- Corporate office spaces.
- Arts & leisure facilities.
- Education.
- Healthcare.
- MOD projects.
As a Junior Mechanical Estimator, you will support the estimating team with the preparation of competitive tenders for mechanical building services projects. Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of detailed mechanical estimates and cost plans.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Supporting the production of tender submissions and take-offs.
- Liaising with internal departments, clients and suppliers.
- Assisting with project handovers to delivery teams.
- Developing knowledge of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
Requirements:
- Some previous exposure to estimating, mechanical building services or construction (placement experience considered).
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or Construction preferred.
- Strong numerical and organisational skills.
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Full UK driving licence desirable.
