We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder to join our fabrication workshop team. The role involves welding and assembling pipework to a high standard, ensuring all work meets relevant codes, specifications, and quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a workshop environment and be proficient in multiple welding techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pipe welding using processes such as TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), and Stick (SMAW)
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, isometric diagrams, and weld procedures
- Prepare, align, and fit pipe sections prior to welding
- Ensure all welds meet quality standards and pass visual and/or NDT inspection
- Operate workshop tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Carry out repairs and rework where necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health & safety regulations
- Work collaboratively with fabricators, fitters, and supervisors to meet production deadlines
Skills Required:
- Proven experience as a pipe welder in a fabrication/workshop environment
- Proficiency in TIG welding (essential); MIG and Stick welding advantageous
- Ability to weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys
- Strong understanding of welding symbols and technical drawings
- Experience working to industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO, or equivalent)
- Good attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications Required:
- Valid welding certifications (e.g., coded welder certification)
- CSCS card (if applicable)
- Additional qualifications in fabrication or engineering are advantageous
