We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Welder Fabricator to join our clients busy production team. This hands-on role involves manufacturing, assembling, and welding a wide range of components to high quality standards. Whether you are seeking permanent employment or working on a self-employed basis, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a well-established, progressive engineering business.
Main Responsibilities and Activities
- Carry out MIG and TIG welding and fabrication to high standards across mild and stainless steel
- Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, plans, and instructions
- Assemble mechanical components and fabricate structures to exact specifications
- Maintain accuracy, quality, and consistency throughout the build process
- Work efficiently to meet production deadlines and project timelines
- Operate machinery and workshop tools safely and correctly
- Complete job cards, time sheets, requisitions, and related documentation accurately
- Participate in quality control and inspections, reporting any faults or non-conformities
- Support the training and development of apprentices and junior staff where required
- Ensure the workshop and workstations are kept clean and compliant with health and safety regulations
Key Skills
- Proven experience in welding and fabrication, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with minimal supervision
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Comfortable working under pressure and adapting to project changes
- Full clean UK driving licence
Desirable: Formal welding qualifications or certifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or coded welding), Experience with hydraulic systems or machine building, Forklift or overhead crane licence.
