In this role you will own the AI tooling estate and day-to-day engineering for a firm-wide AI platform, driving automation, onboarding, and governance. You’ll run and evolve the model gateway, Copilot services, and platform tooling, balancing security and regulatory obligations with rapid delivery. You’ll collaborate across AI teams, architecture, governance, security, and procurement to turn pilots into repeatable, scalable solutions. This is a hands-on, senior IC role with broad cross-functional impact.

Responsibilities
- Engineer and operate shared AI software and platform services used by engineering teams, business users, agents, and applications
- Own the technical lifecycle of AI tools from discovery and pilot through onboarding, upgrades, support, renewal, and retirement
- Automate provisioning, configuration, policy enforcement, and evidence collection using APIs, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD
- Provide L2 support, maintain runbooks and recovery procedures, and escalate as needed
- Operate the AI Team’s model gateway and routes to model providers, managing integrations, credentials, quotas, and routing rules
- Implement identity, IAM, entitlements, and secure secret handling with enterprise IAM and AI Security; monitor availability, latency, and policy breaches
- Establish risk-based onboarding for new AI products and features with governance and risk teams
- Collaborate with architecture on buy-versus-build decisions and encode controls into the platform
- Act as service owner for Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and Copilot Studio; define deployment plans, licenses, cohorts, and guardrails
- Own telemetry, token budgets, licences, and vendor management across all AI systems; ensure consumption is attributed and budgets enforced
- Engage with procurement, legal, TPRM, and finance on vendor selection, renewals, risk, and roadmap
- Partner with other engineering and enablement teams to drive self-serve tools and automated policy controls
Key requirements
- At least five years in platform engineering, software engineering, DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering with shared services experience
- Strong automation skills in Python and hands-on Azure cloud experience including IaC, CI/CD, identity, RBAC, and secret management
- Production experience with LLM APIs or AI platforms including model access, quotas, observability, and provider change management
- Experience administering a major enterprise SaaS or productivity platform at tenant scale (policy, licenses, entitlement management, phased rollout)
- Experience as a technical owner for software vendors (selection, due diligence, licensing, renewals, cost management)
- Good judgement in regulated environments translating security, privacy, risk, and audit requirements into technical controls
- High ownership mindset and ability to structure unfamiliar products, resolve cross-team dependencies, and maintain accountability in production
