Jane Tomlinson's Run for All is one of the UK's biggest not-for-profit sporting event companies, staging many high-profile mass participation events across the UK including the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, Yorkshire Marathon, Leeds, Sheffield, Coventry, Derby and Ipswich Half Marathons and Leeds Abbey Dash.

As Senior Events Manager, Venue you will have accountability for the design, planning and delivery of both new and existing events across the Run For All event portfolio. Working with the Senior Events management team to innovate and enhance event experiences while leading and developing a high-performing team.

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to have experience of managing to tight deadlines and evidence delivery of large, exciting and innovative projects/events. Strong understanding of financial management and cost optimisation. Applicants should have the ability to juggle several workstreams at one time and be highly self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Lead team of events managers and event coordinators to design and implement high class Venues across the full event portfolio.
  • Manage event contracts, working cross functionally to manage performance and deliver defined targets.
  • Embed a mindset of budget governance and control to ensure budgets are reflective of current and future costs, to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Enhance and optimise site design, exploring new technologies to drive efficiency and accuracy across all plans.
  • Monitor and translate existing and new legislation such as Martyns Law (Terrorism Protection of Premises) and proactively introduce into all event planning.
  • Crowd management principles, flow rates and crowd and spectator behaviour understood and embedded into event plans.
  • Deliver in Bronze and Silver event day roles to a high standard to support a safe delivery of events.
  • Accurate emergency and evacuation plans in place across all events.
  • Contribute to the wider operational and company strategy as part of the senior events team.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • A sound understanding of event planning with significant demonstrable experience within the events industry.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage several projects at a time, communicating effectively to manage key stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in site design, crowd management principles and event contingency planning.
  • Ability to encourage, involve, empower and lead people through periods of rapid change.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to think outside of the box.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Will be an excellent communicator coupled with the ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrable experience in budget planning and financial forecasting.
  • Understand the requirements of the organisation and events to ensure events are delivered safely and exceed participant expectations.
  • Be flexible to meet the demands of the business. This role will naturally involve out of hours and weekend working, especially during the events season.
  • Possess a full clean driving licence and own their own car.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field.
