About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our highly technical team responsible for designing and constructing our physical office spaces. This role is within our Engineering group, a team of creative problem-solvers focused on optimizing the work environment at Jane Street. Our team operates with minimal red tape, encouraging new ideas and innovative solutions.

Our goal is to effectively manage, design, and deliver reliable trading floors, colocation facilities, data centres, amenity spaces, and food service areas. As we expand globally, you will collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to realize our vision, ensuring connectivity with our satellite offices and colocation facilities worldwide.

About You

• 5+ years of experience designing and constructing mission-critical data centres, trading floors, or similar 24/7 facilities, with projects ranging from £500K to £50 million
• Professional training in electrical, mechanical, or building services engineering
• Proven experience managing vendors, consultants, and contractors
• Knowledge of MEP disciplines, including plant infrastructure, CRACs, UPSs, HVAC systems, generators, fire prevention, and BMS
• Experience with PlanGrid, Autodesk Build, BIM Collaborate, Bluebeam, MS Project, AutoCAD, REVIT/BIM, and MS Office is preferred
• Comfortable working with technical teams in IT-centric environments and learning new software and control systems
• Working knowledge of IT systems, data centre hardware, and trading desktop hardware
• Ability to collaborate across various departments, from engineering to interior design
• Creative, collaborative, enthusiastic team player eager to learn and take initiative
• Effective task prioritization and organization skills to manage evolving environments
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations during nights and weekends for critical system emergencies
• Fluency in English is required
