We are looking for a Surveillance Analyst to join Jane Street’s London Legal and Compliance team. This role is an opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of global trading and international regulations. You will closely monitor Jane Street’s trading activity to detect any potentially manipulative or problematic behaviours. Our regulatory landscape is complex and evolving, and you will ensure we remain in compliance by investigating any potential issues and documenting findings as appropriate.

As our firm continues to grow, you’ll work closely with our broader Legal and Compliance team (along with Trading, Operations and others) to ensure that we maintain a deep commitment to regulatory protocol and continue to meet our high standards across the firm.

Additional responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Reviewing and managing surveillance alerts
  • Liaising with front office Trading and Technology staff in relation to surveillance alerts
  • Maintaining and reviewing surveillance alert parameters
  • Contributing to the design and development of surveillance systems
  • Analysing data and creating management information in relation to surveillance alerts
  • Contributing to and maintaining Jane Street policies and procedures in relation to compliance and surveillance
  • Developing improvements to the efficiency of the Surveillance team’s processes

About you:

  • Have an undergraduate degree; 1-5 years of compliance and/or surveillance experience in financial services is preferred
  • Proactive, curious, organised and detail-oriented
  • Able to manage competing priorities in a challenging and fast-paced environment
  • Have excellent people and communication skills; you are comfortable interacting with members of several different teams across the firm
  • Willing to learn from mistakes and accept constructive criticism
  • Can easily navigate Excel and love to find better ways to process data
  • Understanding Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and MiFID II is preferred
  • Having experience with SQL is a plus
  • Fluent in English
