I’m recruiting on behalf of a growing business based in Knutsford that is looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join its team on a part-time basis. The position will initially be offered on a temporary basis, with the intention of moving to a permanent contract quickly. The role is expected to be around 3 days per week, with flexibility around working hours.

Reporting to the Head of Payroll/HR, you will take responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of both weekly and monthly payrolls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and within agreed deadlines
  • Updating the payroll database and time management system with starter and leaver information
  • Processing Tax, NI, SSP and SMP payments and deductions
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee personnel and payroll records
  • Responding to payroll, pay and attendance queries from colleagues
  • Ensuring payroll information is accurate, up to date and compliant
  • Supporting the wider Payroll/HR function as required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ payroll experience
  • Strong practical payroll knowledge
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills – essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The confidence to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise your workload and meet deadlines
  • Experience of Sage 50 would be beneficial

As the position is initially temporary, you should be available to start at short notice.

The Package

  • Salary: £30,000–£35,000 FTE, depending on experience
  • Hours: Approximately 3 days per week, with flexibility around working hours
  • Location: Knutsford, Cheshire
  • Parking: Free on-site parking
  • Contract: Temporary initially, with the opportunity to become permanent quickly
