Salary: £28,000–£35,000 pro rata, depending on experience

Are you confident chasing debt without damaging the customer relationship? We’re looking for an experienced and personable Credit Controller to join a busy finance team in Droitwich on an initial three-month contract. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of a ledger, resolving queries and turning promises to pay into payments received! You’ll need to be proactive, organised and comfortable speaking with customers at all levels.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing and maintaining an allocated customer ledger
  • Proactively chasing outstanding invoices by telephone and email
  • Building positive relationships with customers and internal teams
  • Investigating and resolving invoice and payment queries
  • Agreeing and monitoring payment arrangements
  • Allocating payments and maintaining accurate customer accounts
  • Reviewing aged debt and prioritising overdue balances
  • Escalating problem accounts and potential risks appropriately
  • Producing regular updates on collections, queries and outstanding debt
  • Supporting the wider finance team as required

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience in credit control, collections or accounts receivable
  • A confident, professional telephone manner
  • The ability to build rapport while remaining firm about payment
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
  • A proactive approach to resolving queries and reducing aged debt
  • Comfortable working with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Available to start at short notice and commit to an initial three-month assignment
