Jane Austen College is looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Tutor of English. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and supporting overall progress and development of GCSE pupils as an English tutor. Working with small groups of pupils, the successful candidate would ideally have GCSE teaching experience and an understanding of the theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of pupils.
What You’ll Be Doing
- To monitor and support overall progress and development of pupils as a tutor and therefore contribute to raising standards of pupil attainment to promote KS4 outcomes specifically.
- To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides pupils with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
- To share and support the Academy responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
About You
You will be someone with deep subject knowledge as well as patience, empathy, and good communication skills. You will be able to adapt methods to pupil's pace and needs, use engaging examples, and foster a positive space where pupils feel safe to learn and ask questions.
Essential:
- English qualification equivalent to Degree level or working towards this
- An understanding of theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of all pupils or a willingness to upskill on this.
- Patience and understanding when working with smaller groups who need extra support
Desirable:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Experience of teaching in a secondary academy
