Nursery Practitioner– Maternity Cover (Until September 2026)

Location: Wallington

Contract Type: Temporary – Maternity Cover starting January 2026- September 2026

Hours: 22.5 hours a week. Monday-Friday afternoons 2pm-6:30pm

Salary: £13.50 per hour

Job Description

To support the day-to-day running of the room, ensuring high standards of care, learning, and safety in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This maternity cover role involves working as part of a team to provide a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment for children aged 0-5 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of planned, age-appropriate activities based on EYFS.
  • Encourage children’s independence, creativity, and development through play and learning opportunities.
  • Assist with daily routines including mealtimes and sleep times.
  • Work closely with room staff to ensure consistent care and support for all children.
  • Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and parents/carers.

Qualifications required to carry out the role

  • Level 2 childcare qualification – required
  • Experience of working in childcare – desired

Additional Information

Our settings are open 7:30am until 6:30pm. 22.5 hours per week, maternity cover, 2pm-6:30pm Monday-Friday. This position is running from January 2026- September 2026. Salary: £13.50 per hour.
