Social Worker for Residential Assessment CentreLocation: South CroydonPay: £36,000 – £38,000 per annumJob type: PermanentShift and schedule: Full time, Mon-Fri (9am-5pm) Benefits include: Company pension Progression and training opportunities Employee Assistance Programme (Health & Wellbeing) Additional annual leave for your birthday Our residential family centre accommodates a maximum of 9 families and is situated in Croydon, London. Our fundamental principles revolve around trying to keep families together. We create a nurturing and supportive environment where parents can safely and adequately exhibit their parenting capabilities as mandated by the court or local authorities. We facilitate comprehensive and detailed parenting assessments to provide parents with opportunities to learn and engage in change to build upon their parenting capacity. Our assessments are conducted between 12 and 16 weeks. We facilitate specialist parenting assessments such as PAMS, Parent Assess and provide training to our team to facilitate these specialist assessments. Our assessments are grounded in evidence and result in recommendations that prioritise child safety, helping determine the parent’s ability to provide safe care within the community. We create a secure space where children can engage with their parents while addressing safety concerns related to their unique situations. We actively support parents in building confidence, refining parenting skills, and demonstrating their capacity to meet their children’s needs while addressing their individual challenges. We create a safe and welcoming space for families whereby children can connect with their parents and vice versa, addressing any safety concerns unique to their situations. By working closely with parents, we help them build confidence, refine their parenting skills, and showcase their ability to meet their children’s needs. About the role As a Social Worker you will be responsible for conducting well evidenced assessments which elicit comprehensive reports within established timelines, ensuring accuracy and high-quality standards. You will need to effectively manage a caseload of complex cases with high levels of risk and needs, ensuring optimal use of resources. At any given time, there are 9 families in residence, with potential additional community assessments. Each social worker is responsible for managing a caseload of up to 3-4 families. About you You will be a dedicated and experienced Social Worker with a degree in Social Work and relevant registration. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working with children, and families, and expertise in family placement. You will be experienced and proficient in completing parenting assessments. You will need strong interpersonal skills, the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, and excellent report-writing capabilities.
