A great opportunity has come up with a London Boutique Law firm to manage their Onboarding function on an initial contract basis. They typically deal with corporate and institutional clients.

This is a position for an Onboarding Compliance Manager on a 4-5 month FTC to join the Risk and Compliance Department. The successful candidate will manage the client and matter onboarding function. This is a very busy management role that requires a proactive approach and ability to adapt to a fast-evolving team. Minimum of 3 days in the office.

Responsibilities:
  • Main responsibility is to manage the central Onboarding Compliance team and deliver an efficient, responsive service that is aligned with the firm’s strategic priorities.
  • Proactively make improvements to the gatekeeping function/onboarding process for clients and matters.
  • Develop, motivate and line manage the central onboarding compliance team.
  • Allocate and delegate work within the onboarding team to ensure that the client and matter onboarding process is delivered effectively and in accordance with the firm’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Conduct thorough client due diligence (CDD) and complete the relevant sections of client and matter risk assessments in line with the firm’s risk-based approach.
  • Ensure that enhanced due diligence measures are applied to matters identified as high risk.
  • Prepare escalation reports in accordance with the firm’s policies and processes.
  • Work closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance to ensure smooth coordination providing cover and support for each other where needed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by adopting an ‘all hands on deck’ approach during busy periods to ensure deadlines are met and service levels maintained.
  • Build strong, collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders (including partners, lawyers, and business support teams), and engage professionally and responsively with clients and external parties.
  • Contribute to the wider team’s projects and priorities and carry out other ad-hoc activities as required.
Job requirements:
  • Experience of Managing an Onboarding/KYC team.
  • Strong knowledge of onboarding corporate clients.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Onboarding/KYC experience.
  • Experience of EDD.
  • Experience working in a Law firm or professional services firm.
