We are currently working with a leading international law firm that is looking to engage an experienced Planning Lawyer with specialist Development Consent Order (DCO) expertise for an initial 6-month assignment. The role is due to commence ASAP and will likely require some London-based office attendance.
This opportunity has arisen in anticipation of a significant instruction from a client within the energy and infrastructure sector, relating to a major Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). The successful Lawyer will play a key role in advising on and managing the DCO process under the Planning Act 2008, working closely with a highly regarded planning team.
The successful individual will be expected to lead and drive the DCO workstream, bringing practical experience of the DCO regime and acting as the primary point of contact on process, strategy and day-to-day delivery. They will work alongside an established planning team whilst providing valuable insight and guidance on all aspects of the DCO process.
The role is expected to be full-time for an initial period of 6 months and offers the opportunity to work on a high-profile infrastructure project from the outset. A competitive daily rate is on offer.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales or another common law jurisdiction.
- Significant experience advising on Development Consent Orders under the Planning Act 2008.
- Hands-on involvement in the preparation, submission and management of DCO applications.
- Broader town and country planning experience.
- Experience advising on major infrastructure, energy or other NSIP projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to operate autonomously and provide strategic guidance to Senior Lawyers, clients and project teams.
- Capacity to start a new assignment immediately or at short notice.
