We are working on a notable opportunity for a talented Associate to join a market-leading Marine Insurance team with a long-standing reputation for excellence across the international maritime and insurance sectors. This specialist group acts for a broad range of high-profile clients including leading insurers, P&I Clubs, shipowners, and energy-sector stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on complex marine insurance coverage work.
The team routinely advises on high-value, multi-jurisdictional matters spanning hull & machinery, cargo, war risks, marine liabilities, and related reinsurance issues. The successful candidate will join a cohesive and well-supported London-based practice, gaining immediate exposure to sophisticated, often cross-border disputes and coverage advisory work.
The role offers the chance to take on early responsibility, collaborate with international colleagues, and contribute to the development of major coverage matters involving intricate policy wordings and significant commercial consequences. Work commonly involves analysing and advising on policy response, handling contentious and pre-contentious coverage matters, and supporting insurers on their strategic approach to high-stakes marine losses.
Those with experience across both marine insurance litigation and coverage advisory work will be particularly well regarded. To be considered, you will likely have:
- Strong academics and excellent technical and analytical skills;
- Training and post-qualification experience within a well-regarded City or regional Insurance or Marine practice;
- Approximately 5–6 years’ PQE with a clear focus on marine insurance coverage, liability, and related disputes;
- The ability to manage complex caseloads with confidence and autonomy;
- Clear, concise communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
Common law-qualified lawyers with relevant experience are encouraged to apply, and sponsorship can be supported where required. However, London market experience will be preferred. This is an excellent moment to join a growing and outward-looking team, with genuine scope to deepen your expertise in high-value marine insurance coverage work.
