Employment Solicitor, Manchester

We are working with the legal arm of one of the world's largest audit, tax and consulting networks, which is looking to recruit a senior Employment Solicitor into its growing employment practice, at Senior Associate or Legal Director level, based in Manchester.

The Team The employment team is ranked in the Legal 500 and advises UK and international corporate clients on the full range of workforce issues.

Sitting within a major professional services business, the team works alongside tax, consulting and transaction colleagues, which gives its lawyers a broader commercial remit than a conventional law firm practice and direct access to an established client base.

The Role You will act as a primary point of contact on employment law matters, running your own caseload and supervising and developing junior solicitors.

Alongside the technical work you will lead business development with new and existing clients, track changes in employment law and government policy, and advise clients on what those changes mean for them in practice.

This is a role for someone who wants to help build a practice rather than simply service a caseload, and there is genuine scope to shape the team's growth in the north.

Key

Qualifications: Experience: a strong grounding in UK employment law, including employment status, holiday pay, equal pay, National Minimum Wage, employment due diligence and tribunal claims.

Skills: proven ability to manage a varied caseload to deadline, and to supervise and develop more junior lawyers.

Business development: a track record of building client relationships and identifying solutions proactively rather than reactively.

Additional: experience of projects and transactional work within a team; advocacy experience or a background in regulatory inspections would be an advantage.
