Job Description
An innovative, high-growth fintech and award-winning pensions provider is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its expanding in-house legal team, reporting directly to the General Counsel.
This is a high-impact UK-focused role, offering genuine influence as the company continues to scale and invest in its legal function.
The Role
- Acting as the primary pensions expert, advising on complex legal issues related to death benefits, transfers, customer matters, compliance, and policy development.
- Drafting and updating policies, proactively managing regulatory developments, and ensuring positive engagement with the Financial Ombudsman and other regulators.
- Providing commercially minded legal advice across teams, supporting clear communication and collaboration.
- Playing a key part in shaping a legal team expected to grow further in the coming years.
The Team & Structure
- Reporting into the General Counsel as part of an international team of four.
- Anticipated future investment, with an additional Senior Counsel to join in 2026-27, and further reports expected to this role by 2028.
About You
- Qualified Solicitor with at least 8 years' PQE and strong pensions legal expertise.
- In-house and/or private practice backgrounds welcomed.
- Passionate about pensions law, proactive, and able to operate independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills, with a clear, positive approach to stakeholder engagement.
- Interest from candidates based outside London is encouraged.
