A rare and genuinely exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced maritime specialist—either a seasoned PSL/Knowledge Lawyer or a senior fee-earner seeking a strategic, relationship-driven role—to join one of the world’s most respected names in the shipping sector.
This is a firm whose brand carries real weight across the maritime world: a global leader with an exceptional reputation for technical excellence, deep sector knowledge, and long-standing ties with the industry’s most significant players. Their international network is seamlessly integrated, and their shipping capability is widely regarded as among the strongest in the market.
For a maritime lawyer who thrives on intellectual depth, collaboration, and shaping best practice, this is an outstanding platform. Sitting within a high-performing, well-regarded Knowledge Management function—not a back-office service—the Knowledge Counsel will play a central role in supporting the firm’s Asset & Structured Finance group, with a particular focus on maritime work.
You will help drive forward the firm’s know-how strategy across its global offices, ensuring teams are equipped with cutting-edge legal, commercial, and market insight. The work is varied, strategic, and highly visible, with direct partner engagement and real influence on the evolution of the firm’s offering.
The remit spans horizon-scanning, developing and enhancing precedents, training, legal updates, and thought leadership, as well as supporting key sector initiatives. With the departing lawyer possessing deep technical expertise, the firm is keen to find someone who brings strong English-law maritime knowledge, sound judgement, and a clear ability to engage empathetically and collaboratively with senior stakeholders.
Aviation experience is welcome but not essential; maritime expertise remains central. Candidates from in-house roles are welcome, though private practice experience is preferred to help ensure a smooth transition.
Greek language skills or familiarity with the Greek market are a bonus, given the role’s interaction with the Athens office, but are by no means required. The team is open-minded: whether you are an established Knowledge Counsel or a strong senior associate/PSL ready for a step up, technical excellence, communication skills, and the drive to contribute meaningfully to a high-calibre team will be key.
For the right person, this is a rare chance to join a market-leading brand, working at the heart of one of the world’s premier shipping practices, and to help shape the knowledge landscape of a truly international firm.
