A Tier 1 non-contentious construction team at a leading international law firm is looking for a high quality senior associate to join its London practice. The team advises developers, investors, financiers and government procuring authorities on large-scale construction and engineering projects. Its work is split between real estate development and energy and infrastructure. Recent matters include data centres, City tall-tower schemes and major regeneration, decarbonisation projects such as carbon capture, green hydrogen and battery gigafactories, power generation and transmission, and major transport and water infrastructure. The team is Tier 1 in both Chambers and Legal 500, and it is not mainly a diligence or contractor-side practice.

You’ll lead matters day to day, from project structuring and procurement through to drafting and negotiating the main contracts, and run client relationships alongside the partners. You’ll supervise junior lawyers and help win new work. There is scope for international travel if you want it, but it isn’t required.

Requirements:

  • Senior associate level experience in non-contentious construction in private practice
  • Strong experience of JCT and NEC, and ideally FIDIC, IChemE or LOGIC
  • Energy and infrastructure experience is a plus
  • Excellent academics
  • Able to run several matters at once across different sectors
  • The team is relatively small, and not top heavy, so this is a genuinely senior role with plenty of exposure to the partners and clients.
