Legal Counsel (Home based) in London

We are working with the European headquarters of a major global trading and investment group. They are adding a Senior Legal Counsel to their lean London legal team. It is a new role, and one of the broadest in-house positions on the market. The business trades and invests across the whole supply chain, in a wide range of sectors and jurisdictions across the UK and Europe. You would support it on everything from day-to-day commercial contracts to early-stage deals, investments, governance and compliance, and help shape how the legal function develops, including its use of technology and AI. The role: Advising management and business teams across Europe on commercial trading, investments and strategic projectsDrafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts and corporate documentsSupporting corporate governance and company secretarial workCompliance work across competition, anti-bribery, data protection and sanctions, including policies and trainingTracking legal and regulatory developments in the UK and EU and briefing the business. About you: Qualified Lawyer with around 6+ years' PQE, ideally England & Wales qualifiedStrong grounding in corporate M&A or other transactional work at a well-regarded firm, with real drafting and client experienceStrong Commercial Contracts experience, ideally gained in-house in an international settingExperience of cross-border mattersA clear communicator who can explain legal issues to non-LawyersIn-house, regulatory or trading-sector experience is a plus, but not essential.
