We are currently working with a market leading ALSP which is seeking to appoint a Competition Lawyer to support a major financial services client on a 12-month assignment, commencing in late August/early September. This opportunity is ideally suited to Lawyers with upwards of 2 years’ PQE. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with two days per week in the office in London. The successful lawyer will become an integral part of the client's in-house legal team, advising on a broad range of competition and antitrust matters across commercial and strategic initiatives. The work will be varied and business-facing, offering regular interaction with senior stakeholders, regulators and key decision-makers.
Responsibilities are likely to include:
- Advising on day-to-day competition and antitrust matters across commercial projects and contractual arrangements
- Providing strategic competition law advice on business and industry initiatives
- Engaging directly with regulators and supporting regulatory enquiries where required
- Assisting with reporting and updates to senior leadership, including Executive Committees and Boards
- Maintaining and enhancing the organisation's competition compliance framework
- Delivering face-to-face competition law training to business stakeholders
- Drafting guidance notes, undertaking risk assessments and promoting best practice across the business
Suitable candidates are likely to demonstrate:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales, or another commonwealth jurisdiction such as Australia or New Zealand
- Upwards of 2 years’ PQE in handling a range of competition law matters
- Strong technical grounding gained within a recognised private practice or in-house legal team
- Experience advising clients within the financial services sector would be advantageous, although not essential
- Confidence working directly with regulators and senior internal stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide commercially focused legal advice
- Availability to commence the assignment in late August or early September
