An ambitious and fast-growing specialist law firm in Kent is seeking a Commercial Lawyer with between two and six years' PQE to join its highly regarded commercial team. This is an opportunity to build genuine expertise within the technology sector, advising innovative businesses ranging from early-stage ventures to established high-growth companies.

The role offers exposure to sophisticated commercial work, direct client contact and the chance to develop as a trusted adviser within a modern and entrepreneurial legal environment. The firm has established a strong reputation for providing commercially focused, pragmatic advice to technology-led businesses. Its Lawyers work closely with clients as long-term partners, supporting them through growth, investment, commercial expansion and strategic decision-making.

The quality of work is consistently high, with the team regularly acting opposite leading City and international firms on significant transactions and negotiations. The successful candidate will work on a broad range of commercial matters, including:

  • SaaS agreements
  • Technology services contracts
  • Master services agreements
  • Outsourcing arrangements
  • Customer and supplier contracts
  • Reseller and partnership agreements
  • Wider strategic commercial projects

There will also be opportunities to develop expertise in related areas such as data protection, technology law and intellectual property issues. This position would suit a Lawyer who enjoys combining strong technical drafting skills with practical commercial advice and who is genuinely interested in the technology sector.

While previous experience of technology contracts would be advantageous, the firm is equally interested in candidates with a solid commercial contracts background and a clear desire to develop a specialist technology practice. The environment is collaborative, supportive and non-hierarchical. Lawyers are encouraged to take ownership of their work, contribute ideas and play an active role in the continued growth of the business.

Alongside client work, there are opportunities to become involved in business development initiatives, thought leadership, marketing activity and wider strategic projects. Candidates are likely to have:

  • 2-6 years' PQE gained within private practice, in-house or a combination of both
  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to legal advice
  • The ability to manage matters independently whilst working collaboratively as part of a wider team
  • A genuine interest in technology businesses and the legal issues affecting them

In return, the firm offers high-quality work, excellent client exposure, flexible and hybrid working arrangements, genuine opportunities for progression and the chance to develop a long-term specialism within one of the most active areas of the legal market. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercial Lawyer seeking a more entrepreneurial environment where they can accelerate their development, work closely with innovative clients and play a meaningful role in the growth of a modern law firm.
