Job Description A leading international law firm is looking for an Associate with at least 4 years' PQE to join its top-ranked Insurance & Reinsurance team in London. /n This is not a standard construction insurance role. Most construction insurance work in the London market is third-party: defending contractors and consultants under their liability policies. This practice is first-party. You will act for insurers and reinsurers on coverage under the policies that protect the project and the asset itself, principally construction and erection all risks (CAR/EAR), delay in start-up (DSU), property damage and business interruption, and energy and renewables cover. /n The matters are high-value and often international, with recent work across the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. They include tunnelling and major infrastructure projects, offshore energy installations, windfarms, and large fire and explosion losses. Disputes are resolved through litigation, arbitration, mediation and adjudication, and there is also non-contentious policy wording and contract advice. /n You will work directly with a Partner who has built his practice around this area, have regular contact with clients and take real responsibility for significant matters from the outset. The team is busy and growing, and Associates are encouraged to develop their own relationships and profile in the insurance market. /n The successful candidate is likely to have: /n /n - At least 4 years' PQE gained at a City, major regional or leading international firm; /n - Experience of construction all risks (CAR) coverage work as a minimum; /n - Ideally, experience of property damage, energy or renewables claims, or large loss work more generally; /n - Wider contentious experience, including litigation and arbitration; and /n - Strong drafting skills and the ability to turn complex coverage issues into clear, commercial advice. /n /n This would suit an insurance Lawyer who wants a genuinely specialist first-party practice, or a large loss or property damage Lawyer looking for more coverage work and international exposure. /n To find out more about this role and others we are handling, please get in touch with David Von Dadelszen in complete confidence. Please note that where a level of preferred experience or qualification is indicated, this is a guideline only and does not preclude applications from candidates with more or less experience./n /n Our consultants will review your application and assess your suitability. We endeavour to respond to all applications within 72 hours, however due to the volume of applications we receive we may not be able to respond to every candidate individually and would advise that if you do not hear from us you should assume you are not successful in your application. Jameson Legal acts as an employment business for temporary recruitment and as an employment agency for fixed term contract and permanent recruitment./n /n /n
