A high-growth UK telecoms and digital infrastructure business is seeking a Head of Legal to lead its in-house legal function as the most senior lawyer in the organisation. Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the Board and C-suite, this is a strategic, commercially focused role supporting the next phase of growth, corporate simplification and network commercialisation.

This is a broad commercial position, but previous experience in Corporate M&A/Corporate Finance would also be beneficial.

The opportunity:

  • Act as the senior legal adviser to the CFO, Board and Executive Leadership Team on commercial, corporate, funding, governance and strategic projects.
  • Lead and develop a small team (newly qualified lawyer and paralegals), setting the vision for how legal best supports the business.
  • Play a key role in ongoing corporate finance structuring and negotiations with banks, investors and private equity, in the context of a simplified ownership structure and potential change of control.
  • Support future M&A and consolidation activity.
  • Provide broad-based commercial support across supply chain, construction, commercial agreements, sales, marketing and consumer/ISP issues.

About you:

  • Qualified solicitor with c-10+ PQE, likely with a strong grounding in corporate finance / transactions from a reputable firm and subsequent in-house commercial experience.
  • Comfortable working at Board and C-suite level, with the confidence to challenge, the judgement to know when to push, and the resilience not to take debate personally.
  • Experience with telecoms, Ofcom or other regulated infrastructure/utilities is helpful but not essential.
  • Broad commercial skill set, able to turn complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance for non-lawyers.
  • Diplomatic, emotionally intelligent and relationship-led, able to build trust quickly with a commercially focused CFO and senior leadership team.

Location, culture and workstyle:

  • Based from the company's Oxfordshire office (Abingdon area), with hybrid working but requiring easy access to the office for regular in-person meetings.
  • Entrepreneurial, growth-oriented environment but with a genuine commitment to work-life balance.
