Job Description
Our clients market leading team is seeking a newly qualified to two-year PQE solicitor to join its immigration practice. This is a varied position combining advice to corporate clients on UK immigration obligations with applications for individuals and families.
The role
You will work alongside experienced immigration practitioners, gaining responsibility for matters as your expertise develops. The work centres on business immigration, sponsorship and employer compliance, alongside a broader personal immigration caseload.
Your work will include Skilled Worker and Global Business Mobility applications; sponsor licence applications and ongoing compliance; right to work processes and audits; and immigration applications for partners, dependants, students, graduates, visitors and applicants seeking settlement or citizenship. You will also prepare written advice and representations, communicate with the Home Office, and work directly with employers, HR teams and individual clients.
There is scope to contribute to legal updates, client briefings, training and business development. The practice does not undertake asylum, refugee or human rights claims.
The candidate
Applications are welcomed from solicitors qualified in England and Wales, including those approaching qualification, with up to two years' PQE. Relevant immigration experience is required, ideally encompassing business immigration or sponsor compliance.
You should be a careful drafter and clear communicator, able to balance several matters, exercise sound judgement and provide practical, sensitive advice. An interest in keeping pace with changes in immigration policy, using legal technology and building client relationships will be valuable.
The opportunity
The position offers close supervision, regular feedback and exposure to domestic and international clients, with the opportunity to develop your own relationships and take on greater responsibility over time. The wider practice can draw on colleagues across employment, corporate, tax and private client disciplines.
The firm offers a benefits package including a 5% employer pension contribution, discretionary profit share and performance-related bonus arrangements, private medical insurance, income protection, life assurance and enhanced family leave subject to service requirements. Other benefits include a medical cash plan, travel or parking support and a selection of flexible benefits.
For a confidential discussion about the role and the firm, please get in touch with James Wheelhouse, Associate Director.
Please note that where a level of preferred experience or qualification is indicated, this is a guideline only and does not preclude applications from candidates with more or less experience.
Our consultants will review your application and assess your suitability. We endeavour to respond to all applications within 72 hours, however due to the volume of applications we receive we may not be able to respond to every candidate individually and would advise that if you do not hear from us you should assume you are not successful in your application.
