Job Description

A well-established UK law firm is looking to recruit a pensions Associate to join its specialist team in Guildford. The role would suit an England & Wales qualified solicitor with around 1-3 years' PQE and some experience of pensions work who is keen to broaden their technical and client-facing experience within a dedicated practice.

The role

You will work with partners and senior lawyers on a varied mix of advisory, transactional and regulatory pensions matters for trustees, employers and pension scheme providers. The work will include day-to-day scheme advice, governance and compliance issues, benefit structures and pensions aspects of corporate transactions.

You will also have the opportunity to:

  • Draft and review scheme documentation, member communications and legal advice;
  • Assist with due diligence and pensions-related documentation on corporate matters;
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting pension schemes;
  • Participate in client meetings and help deliver practical, commercially focused advice; and
  • Support pitches, business development and relevant thought leadership.

The candidate

You will be a solicitor qualified in England & Wales with approximately 1-3 years' PQE and exposure to pensions law. Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills are important, together with sound commercial judgement and careful attention to detail.

The team is looking for someone organised and proactive who can manage competing priorities, work collaboratively with colleagues and build trusted client relationships. A genuine interest in developing a career in pensions law is essential.

The opportunity

This is an opportunity to develop within a specialist pensions practice handling work across scheme governance, regulatory matters, transactions and related life assurance issues, while working alongside colleagues in complementary corporate, employment and disputes teams.

The firm operates an agile hybrid working policy under which employees may work from home, or another UK location, for at least 50% of their time. Other flexible working arrangements can also be considered through the firm's usual application process.
