The firm combines UK, EU, and US-qualified Solicitors, patent Attorneys, and international Associates, enabling it to manage IP filings and disputes directly in multiple jurisdictions – including the United Kingdom, European Union, and United States. The firm advises clients across a broad range of sectors, including FMCG, manufacturing, engineering, medtech, AI, and the performing arts, delivering bespoke IP strategies aligned with commercial objectives. Known for technical excellence and a personable approach, the firm provides clear, practical, and internationally informed IP advice.
The Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Solicitor to lead and grow its dispute resolution practice. This newly created role offers significant autonomy, and the chance to shape a key practice area within a forward-thinking IP firm. The successful candidate will manage a variety of contentious IP matters – from individual brand or copyright misuse cases to multi-million-pound disputes between major corporates. The firm already receives regular instructions in contentious work, and this appointment will formalise and expand the disputes offering as a core service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing the firm’s IP dispute resolution function, covering trademarks, copyright, design rights, licensing, contracts, and related matters.
- Acting as principal contact for contentious IP cases, advising clients through all stages of dispute resolution.
- Conducting litigation, mediation, and negotiation within the UK, including running claims in the Enterprise Court, and coordinating with EU, US, and international Associates where necessary.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, providing strategic and commercially focused advice.
- Driving the development and promotion of the firm’s dispute resolution services.
- Collaborating with colleagues across IP, patent, and trademark teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
Candidate Profile:
- UK-qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 6 years’ PQE, ideally at Senior Associate level upwards.
- Strong background in dispute resolution, including experience running claims in the Enterprise Court.
- Demonstrable ability to generate work and develop client relationships, supported by a robust referral network.
- Excellent communication, client management, and organisational skills.
- Entrepreneurial, proactive, and confident operating autonomously in a remote environment.
- Those with more senior experience will, of course, be considered.
Remuneration and Benefits:
- Competitive salary in the region of £70,–£90, upwards, depending on experience.
- Discretionary performance-based bonus scheme.
- Future equity participation anticipated as part of a forthcoming business restructuring.
- Significant career progression opportunities within a fast-growing firm.
- Fully remote working model with a collaborative, supportive culture.
Future Prospects:
Our client is currently in an exciting growth phase, which will create exceptional opportunities for senior professionals to progress and influence the direction of the firm. This position offers a rare opportunity for a driven, entrepreneurial Solicitor to lead and develop an IP dispute resolution practice within a highly specialised, internationally active, fully remote law firm.
