This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded Competition, Regulation and Trade practice in London, advising on complex competition and regulatory matters for a broad range of multinational clients. The team works across a fully integrated international platform, with colleagues based throughout Europe, Asia and Australia. The practice advises leading financial institutions, multinational corporates, regulatory bodies and government entities on a wide range of competition and regulatory matters. Much of the work has a cross-border dimension, and frequently involves coordinating regulatory strategies across multiple jurisdictions and competition authorities.
The team handles the full spectrum of competition law matters, including cartel and behavioural investigations, competition litigation, merger control, foreign direct investment reviews, regulatory advice, state aid, public procurement and international trade issues. For this role, the focus will be on the non-contentious side of the practice.
Associates are typically involved in advising on multi-jurisdictional merger control filings, foreign direct investment regimes, antitrust risk assessments, and competition issues arising from significant domestic and international transactions. The team also advises clients on broader regulatory frameworks affecting global businesses, including matters connected to EU law, international trade rules and sector-specific regulatory regimes.
Clients operate across a wide range of sectors including energy and natural resources, infrastructure, financial institutions, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, transport, manufacturing and technology. The work is often high-profile and strategically important for clients operating in heavily regulated or internationally competitive markets.
The successful candidate will have approximately five to nine yearsβ post-qualification experience, ideally gained within a strong UK or international competition practice. Candidates from transactional competition teams are encouraged, particularly those with experience of merger control or regulatory advisory work, although lawyers from mixed competition practices will also be considered.
You will be technically strong, commercially aware and comfortable working on complex matters alongside colleagues across multiple offices. Strong academic credentials and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels will be important.
