A global energy trading company is seeking a Senior Counsel to join the business's London office as their Lead Lawyer on all EMEA matters. This position offers a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of energy trading, M&A, and infrastructure investment, advising senior leaders on complex, high-value transactions across a dynamic portfolio.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Trading & Commercial Advisory
- Partner with trading and commercial teams on deal structuring, negotiation, and risk management.
- Draft and negotiate a variety of contracts covering both physical and financial commodity transactions.
- Advise on trade finance matters, including credit facilities and bilateral agreements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across credit, operations, compliance, and tax.
- Corporate/M&A:
- Advise on acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and portfolio management in energy infrastructure and power assets.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate key transaction documentation.
- Support project and corporate financing activity across the asset portfolio.
The ideal candidate will be a UK-qualified lawyer with substantial experience in physical Energy/Commodity Trading matters, as well as some exposure to M&A deals for energy/power assets.
