A new opportunity has come up for a head of development to join a growing, successful legal software consultancy. This is a permanent position based in London. The main purpose of this role will be to lead the technology function, establish processes and help shape the firm’s technical direction.
- Taking ownership of the technology function.
- Providing technical guidance and establishing engineering standards and coding practices.
- Leading modernisation of the existing application and database estate.
- Ensuring delivery risks are identified and managed.
- Overseeing delivery commitments and agile practices.
- Establishing appropriate governance for technical documentation and development tools.
- Managing development budgets and expenditure.
- Providing regular updates to management on engineering progress and delivery commitments.
- Communication technical matters in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attending regular senior management meetings, representing the technology function.
- Assessing and challenging development approaches and decisions.
Skills and experience required:
- Demonstrable experience in a senior engineering leadership role.
- Strong experience in C#, .Net, ASP.Net, and SQL Server.
- Proven experience improving software engineering practices.
- Solid architectural and database design expertise.
- Excellent stakeholder management and presentation skills.
- Strong commercial awareness, experience of budget management and resource planning.
