An international business operating in the shipping and maritime sector is seeking a Claims Lawyer to join its London-based legal team. This is an opportunity to work on complex, high-value maritime claims and disputes while providing commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across operations, chartering, technical and safety functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a broad range of shipping and maritime claims.
- Advising on charterparty, cargo, casualty and contractual disputes.
- Working closely with operational teams to assess risk and develop practical solutions.
- Liaising with insurers, external counsel and other industry stakeholders.
- Supporting the business on legal strategy and claims resolution.
About You:
- Qualified Lawyer with c.5-10+ PQE in shipping claims.
- Experience in shipping, maritime law or marine insurance.
- Background gained in private practice, a P&I Club, insurer or in-house environment.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage matters from inception through to resolution.
- Commercially minded, proactive and able to build relationships across a business.
