An established national law firm is looking to welcome an Associate or Senior Associate with hands-on experience in healthcare inquests to join their expanding Healthcare & Public Law team in London. This role offers the chance to advise a wide range of NHS and private healthcare organisations on complex, high-profile matters, while being part of a team recognised for its depth of expertise and sector-focused insight.
The team regularly works on inquests, public inquiries, best interests applications, judicial review, and mental health law. It also supports clients with patient care issues, clinical governance, and regulatory matters. Beyond advisory work, the team has specialist sub-groups dedicated to commercial, employment, and property matters for the healthcare sector. Its work has been nationally recognised, most recently receiving accolades for excellence in healthcare legal services.
In this role, you will be managing inquests both with and without a jury, providing advocacy and advice on governance, human rights, and patient-focused public law matters. You will also support clients through investigations, complaints, and regulatory challenges, helping them navigate the complexities of healthcare law. There is also scope to contribute to developing new services and initiatives that respond to client needs.
We are looking for someone who is a qualified Solicitor with proven experience in healthcare inquests, ideally complemented by broader experience in healthcare law. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work flexibly and proactively within a team. Experience in Court of Protection work or similar jurisdictions is a plus, but the right candidate will be supported to grow in areas where needed.
