A well-established regional law firm is seeking a highly experienced Senior Litigation Solicitor to lead its Litigation Department in Hertfordshire. This senior-level role offers the opportunity to manage a broad, high-value caseload, take a strategic lead in departmental growth, and progress toward Partnership.
You will handle a range of complex disputes—including property, landlord and tenant, commercial (including partnership and shareholder disputes), boundary issues, professional negligence, and insolvency matters. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded litigator who enjoys working autonomously and leading a team, with a strong emphasis on client care and business development.
Key Responsibilities:- Leading and managing a diverse caseload of complex civil, commercial and property litigation matters.
- Supervising, supporting, and developing junior fee earners, creating a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Contributing to the strategic direction of the litigation department, with clear progression to Partnership.
- Driving business development initiatives, and actively network to enhance the firm’s presence and attract new clients.
- Working closely with colleagues across departments to deliver a full-service client offering.
- Maintaining a strong focus on client satisfaction, service delivery, and financial performance (including meeting billing targets).
- Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 7 years’ PQE in litigation.
- Demonstrable experience in managing high-value disputes across property, commercial, and professional negligence.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience, with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
- Commercially astute, with strong business development and networking skills.
- Excellent communicator, with strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated, highly organised, and able to manage competing priorities under pressure.
- Strong billing record, and confident in managing financial targets.
