About the Role

Provide engineering design solutions and lifecycle engineering and service support to the JFD product range and systems, working as a technical lead for the engineering team. Design integrity and high-quality solutions that meet performance, safety and manufacturing standards are delivered.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide engineering design input for new and existing systems and products, supporting the current product/systems range and addressing technical queries.
  • Own engineering delivery and collaborate with internal departments including sales, supply chain and production to deliver technically sound and commercially viable solutions.
  • Engage with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to offer technical guidance and ensure robust solutions that meet specifications and project requirements.
  • Create and manage part structures, part numbers and bills of materials, sourcing appropriate components and materials as needed.
  • Generate and review engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certifications and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Lead the implementation of design changes, ensuring updates are accurately reflected and communicated across documentation and teams.
  • Ensure engineering solutions are delivered on time and within budget, complying with internal processes, standards and external regulations.
  • Act as technical approver for engineering drawings and documentation generated.
  • Mentor and develop team capability through hands-on support.

What we're looking for

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent industry background.
  • Extensive experience in generating design calculations, specifications, procedures, certification and reporting.
  • Experience in manufacturing techniques, gas and fluid systems.
  • Proficient in using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for creation and storage of engineering documentation and packages.
  • Strong understanding of engineering testing methods, including planning and execution.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems design and service support requirements.
  • Familiarity with key design standards relevant to mechanical engineering.
  • Exposure to industry codes and regulations including Lloyd’s Register, DNV, ABS, DEFSTAN and MIL-STD is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Pressure Vessel design skills using PD5500, ASME VIII, EN 13445 is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS Workbench, MathCAD or similar is advantageous.
  • Experience in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks or AutoCAD is advantageous.
  • Diving qualifications or knowledge of diving is advantageous.
