JWR is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced and people-focused Hotel Operations Manager for a well-established, branded hotel in the heart of Exeter. The Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a key role in driving operational excellence across the hotel. You will support and lead department heads to ensure smooth day-to-day operations while consistently delivering brand standards and memorable guest experiences. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being visible on the floor, coaching teams, and continuously improving standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee daily hotel operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Maintenance, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and quality.
  • People Management: Lead, motivate, and develop departmental managers and their teams to achieve service and performance goals.
  • Guest Experience: Champion guest satisfaction, manage feedback proactively, and implement service improvements.
  • Financial Performance: Support budgeting, cost control, and revenue opportunities while maintaining service excellence.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and legal standards, creating a safe environment for guests and colleagues.
  • Problem Solving: Act swiftly on operational challenges, using a calm, solutions-focused approach.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance productivity, quality, and team engagement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Operations Manager or senior hotel manager within a branded or quality-led hotel
  • A confident, visible leader with a passion for developing people
