James Webber Recruitment is delighted to be working with a highly successful and fast-growing hospitality operator seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join their leadership team in Central London. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional to take responsibility for the maintenance, compliance, and operational integrity of a large, high-volume hospitality property.
The successful candidate will lead all aspects of maintenance operations, ensuring the building, facilities, plant, equipment, and guest areas are maintained to the highest standards.
The Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the maintenance department, ensuring a safe, compliant, and well-presented environment for guests and colleagues alike. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all engineering and maintenance operations across the property
- Managing planned preventative maintenance programmes
- Overseeing repairs, installations and refurbishment projects
- Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety and statutory regulations
- Preparing the property for all external audits and inspections
- Managing maintenance budgets and controlling departmental expenditure
- Liaising with contractors, suppliers and service providers
- Conducting regular building inspections and implementing corrective actions
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation
- Leading, coaching and developing the maintenance team
- Supporting operational departments to maximise room availability and guest satisfaction
About You
We are seeking a proactive and commercially aware Maintenance Manager with a strong technical background and a passion for delivering high standards. The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager, Chief Engineer or Facilities Manager within hospitality, hotels, leisure or a large commercial environment
- Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general building maintenance
- Experience managing compliance, fire safety and health & safety requirements
- Proven ability to manage contractors and maintenance budgets
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and team development experience
- A hands-on approach with exceptional attention to detail
