JWR is recruiting for an experienced and highly adaptable Support General Manager to provide operational leadership across a portfolio of hotels. This is a varied, field-based role suited to a strong hotel operator who can quickly integrate into different properties, support existing management teams and take full operational responsibility during periods of absence, transition or increased business demand. Working closely with the Operations Director, you will help maintain high standards of guest experience, commercial performance, compliance and team engagement across multiple locations. With most of our clients' hotels being in the South of England, access to M5/M4 corridor would be an advantage.

The Role
- Provide operational leadership across multiple hotel locations
- Cover or support General Manager responsibilities where required
- Take responsibility for commercial and financial performance during support periods
- Review labour costs, food margins, bar margins and stock controls
- Identify operational challenges and implement immediate improvements
- Maintain high standards across accommodation, food and beverage, cleanliness and presentation
- Lead and support Heads of Department and Duty Managers
- Build rapport quickly with established teams and maintain morale during periods of change
- Support recruitment, rota planning, training and team development
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety, food safety and company procedures
- Oversee allergen management and communication between kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Take ownership of guest feedback and resolve issues promptly
- Provide clear handovers and operational updates when moving between locations
- Work closely with senior leadership, suppliers and contractors
- Travel between hotels, sometimes at short notice
Requirements
- Previous General Manager, Deputy General Manager or senior multi-department hotel experience
- A strong understanding of hotel operations and commercial performance
- Experience managing food and beverage operations
- Proven ability to assess a business quickly and implement improvements
- Strong financial awareness, including labour, margins, stock and cost control
- Excellent leadership and team development skills
- A calm, confident and solutions-focused approach
- Strong knowledge of health and safety, food safety and compliance
- The ability to build credibility quickly with new teams
- A flexible approach to working hours, travel and changing operational priorities
- A full UK driving licence
