A private owned global manufacturing organization, supplying a vast range of high-performance fluid sealing products and associated knowledge-based services to virtually every industry sector. With state-of-the-art skills in materials technology, particularly relating to elastomers, polymers, composites and engineering plastics plus extensive expertise in precision machining of exotic alloys for metallic seals, and tension control fasteners for bolted joints.
Your Role
Are you naturally driven by growth, have sales experience in Engineering within the Defence, Oil & Gas, Power & Energy, or Processing sectors? If so, look no further. As a Business Development Manager, you will strategically develop new business and revitalise relationships with previous customers. You'll work at the heart of our company, collaborating with Product developers to cater to our client's needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Using your hunting skills, you will be responsible for the generation of new and profitable business revenue.
- Generate opportunities through a high level of activity and across multiple channels.
- Form dynamic relationships with your internal and external team members.
- Work closely with the Product and Marketing teams in identifying & developing commercial initiatives.
- Initiate the company's strategy of range selling products from Manufacturing Business Units.
- Prepare and manage your sales budget, pipeline tracking and reporting, forecasts and attainment of revenue objectives.
- Proactively preparing and submitting formal business tenders and proposals, along with assessing the risks to the business of any new commercial opportunity.
- Initiate and complete proposals and presentations for new business opportunities.
- Monitor industry and competitors' developments, identifying key trends, regularly update the Sales Team and bringing new ideas for new business opportunities.
- Manage KPI targets, e.g. gross margin, sales growth, new customers.
- To work across the business managing relationships with other departments at all stages of the sales process.
- Maximising networking opportunities and attendance at conferences, events and trade shows to increase awareness of James Walker and develop a further network of contacts.
- A team player, working closely with the relevant Account Manager and Field Sales Representative.
- To maintain specified Quality Management procedures and standards consistently.
- To continuously demonstrate commitment to learning; Company products and services.
About you
- Engineering or Seals sales experience.
- Develop new clients and create new lines of revenue.
- A strong desire and commitment for sales success.
- Strong in presentation approach, context & content.
- Comfortable talking about money and ability to negotiate price lists, LTA, contracts and favourable terms and conditions.
- Exceptional commercial & analytical skills to identify business trends & insights.
- Mastery over marketing campaigns, social & proactive selling techniques.
- Consultative & value selling techniques.
- Make and execute decisions in a fast, simple and focused way.
- Is rejection proof and able to use creative problem-solving skills including diplomacy, negotiation & conflict resolution to move forward.
- Manage projects through to fruition with minimal supervision.
Preferred Experience
- Basic Knowledge of Sealing Technology.
- Understanding of Engineering Drawings.
Qualifications
- Preferred Qualifications: HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical/Maintenance Engineering.
- Time served Mechanical/Maintenance Apprentice.
- Formal recognised Sales Qualification.
