With state-of-the-art material technology skills, the James Walker Strategic Business Unit (SBU) specialises in the provision of sealing solutions (elastomers, polymers, composites, engineering plastics, high nickel alloys).
Our worldwide group of companies has operations, sales and service entities across Europe, Middle East, India, Australia, New Zealand, SE Asia, South Africa and North and South America.
James Walker, Gourock is looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer (QC Inspection). The successful candidate will report directly to the Quality Engineering Supervisor and will be responsible for quality and inspection activities, ensuring product compliance to customer specifications and other business requirements. The QE will carry out department activities in accordance with defined processes and procedures and assist with the creation and upkeep of quality standards and systems across the business.
- 39 hours per week (Shifts in operation)
- Day Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:00 & Friday 08:00-13:00
- Back Monday to Thursday 11:30-21:45
- Night Monday to Thursday 21:45-08:00
Responsibilities include:
- Operate an efficient 1st off, In Process, Final and Goods-In inspection process as per requirements.
- Liaise with production and other departments as required to ensure timely job completion.
- Participate in the implementation of the Nonconformity and Concession processes.
- Data collection through ERP system and other mediums as required.
- Establish and define best practice inspection per product as required.
- Material testing and verification as required.
- Shift work including Back, Night and cover for absence will be an essential part of this role.
Qualifications:
- Minimum HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience in a manufacturing/engineering role.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings at all complexity levels.
- CMM programming preferred.
- Experience of Oil and Gas documentation systems and standards including ecommerce portals preferred.
- IT literate with experience in using Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat and ERP systems.
- Self-starter and motivated to succeed, working under own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Ability to react quickly and solve minor problems.
- Ability to complete accurate inspection documentation and records.
