Direct message the job poster from James Steel Productions James Steel Productions is seeking a highly organised and experienced General Manager to support the delivery of a growing portfolio of new musicals, plays, and international collaborations. This is a brilliant opportunity to join a fast-scaling commercial general management company with a global outlook. Role Overview As General Manager, you’ll lead on the operational, financial, and contractual delivery of our productions – from pre-production through to closing night. You’ll work closely with the Executive Producer, Production Assistant, and external creatives to ensure projects run smoothly and with integrity. You’ll also line manage a small internal team, liaise with venues and partners, and support the company’s ongoing strategic development. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple active and developing productions Manage production budgets, cashflow, reconciliations, and stakeholder reporting Negotiate and issue contracts for artists, venues, creatives, and suppliers Ensure compliance with Equity, UK Theatre, and licensing regulations Coordinate schedules, insurance, rehearsals, and production logistics Lead on internal line management of a Production Assistant and Production Coordinator Support marketing, PR, and ticketing strategy alongside the Executive Producer Foster a collaborative working environment with clarity, transparency, and care Ideal Qualifications 3–5 years’ experience in general or company management (UK theatre) Excellent organisational and communication skills Strong financial management, negotiation, and stakeholder leadership experience Knowledge of producing, sales, and ticketing in musical theatre Familiarity with marketing and PR campaign structures Committed to transparency, equal pay, and industry best practice Comfortable using tools like Google Workspace, Excel, and project management platforms A background in producing, arts management, or commercial theatre is preferred.
