James Ray Recruitment are seeking to appoint a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team within a SEMH School based in Southport. Our client is looking for a candidate with the drive to contribute to an atmosphere of respect, recognition, optimism, and mutual support within the school which promotes equality within and values the diversity of the school community. You will be required to work closely with members of our Inclusion Team and have the energy and creativity to develop and inspire students learning. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direction of the Social, Emotional and Mental Health Co-ordinator to support the learning, progress, and care of identified groups of students, to help them achieve their personal best. You will also support effective liaison and communication with teaching and other support staff. You will deliver a programme of support for students with SEMH needs. We would welcome an individual who has high aspirations for students, who is committed and passionate about learning, who has the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of student. You will need to build relationships with students who may struggle to engage in learning and support them through planned programmes of intervention. The ideal candidate: * Be able to demonstrate levels of numeracy and literacy to GCSE [A-C] or 4+; * Have excellent communication skills. * Be committed to the safeguarding of young people. * Be highly motivated to inspire children through the support they give to encourage their learning. * Have great references demonstrating they are a suitable candidate, safe to work with children. * Minimum 6 months experience within a SEN setting * Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification, at level 2 or level 3 * Enthusiastic and ability to adapt to difficult situations * Calm, resilient and able to communicate well with young people * Confident in your behaviour management skills * Be able to build excellent relationships with pupils James Ray Recruitment specialise in finding our candidates long term & permanent placements across the UK.
