Are you highly practical, passionate about fine craftsmanship, and eager to learn a rare and world-renowned trade?
We are seeking dedicated Gunmaker Apprentice to join our historic workshop. Under the direct guidance of our Craftsmen, Senior Craftsmen, and Master Craftsmen, you will learn the intricate skills required to manufacture bespoke Guns and Rifles to Purdey’s standards.
Starting with fundamental workshop tasks, your training will progressively move toward highly technical, skilled-based craftwork. Upon successful completion of your training, you will be formally certified by Purdey and The London Proof House.

- Learn & Master the Craft: Acquire technical knowledge and hands-on skills through structured guidance and practical work.
- Uphold Quality: Actively contribute to our culture of world-class quality, precision, and excellence in gun and rifle manufacturing.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives and support workshop procedures.
- Protect Brand Heritage: Safekeep intellectual property, tradition, and product standards unique to James Purdey & Sons.
- Safety & Environment: Maintain a safe, clean, and environmentally conscious workspace, following safety protocols and looking for ways to continuously improve workplace safety.
HOW WILL YOU EXPERIENCE SUCCESS?
Qualifications
- A good standard of secondary education or an NVQ equivalent.
- Strong hand skills and manual dexterity (to be demonstrated via a practical trade test).
