Our client is seeking an experienced Building Consultant to join their specialist subsidence team, delivering a high-quality service in the diagnosis, management and resolution of domestic and commercial subsidence claims. This is a hybrid role involving remote working combined with regular site visits (approximately twice per week) across London and the South East. The successful candidate will play a key role in the subsidence division, contributing to the resolution of complex structural claims while engaging directly with homeowners, contractors and insurers. From initial inspections through to site investigations and repair strategy, this role is central to progressing and settling claims efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of subsidence claims from instruction through to conclusion
- Conduct on-site inspections and remote assessments to diagnose structural damage
- Liaise with customers, explain findings and outline next steps clearly and empathetically
- Arrange and interpret site investigations, prepare technical reports and recommendations
- Report to insurer clients and drive claim resolution strategies forward
- Maintain records in accordance with internal processes and regulatory standards
Candidate Requirements
- Qualifications: Chartered or working towards chartership (e.g., MCIOB, MRICS, MICE); insurance-related qualifications such as CILA or CII are beneficial
- Experience: Strong background in building pathology, with specific knowledge of subsidence and drainage systems
- Technical Skills: Able to diagnose and manage structural issues and recommend appropriate mitigation and repair strategies
- Customer Focused: Clear communicator with the ability to manage expectations and deliver outstanding service
- Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is essential
Remuneration & Benefits
- Salary between £45,000 and £55,000 depending on experience
