The Opportunity
My client, a highly regarded property consultancy, is looking to appoint a Chartered Building Surveyor to join their growing Architecture & Building Surveying team in Taunton or Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established multidisciplinary office with a strong pipeline of work across the South West. You’ll work across a diverse range of projects, including commercial, rural estates, and some heritage assets, while building long-term client relationships. Crucially, this role offers a clear and achievable progression pathway to Director level, making it ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and ambitious team.
The Role
You will deliver a broad mix of professional and project-led building surveying services, taking ownership of both projects and client relationships. Key responsibilities include:
- Contract administration and project monitoring
- Building surveys and report writing
- Preparing specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation
- Planned preventative maintenance programmes and schedules of condition
- Advising on procurement, contractor appointments, and statutory consents
- Delivering professional services including dilapidations, party wall, and reinstatement cost assessments
- Supporting design and technical delivery across a range of schemes
- Acting as a key client contact, managing relationships and delivering high-quality service
You’ll be given autonomy and responsibility early on, with the support of a collaborative and experienced team.

About You
- MRICS qualified with 2+ years’ post-qualification experience
- Strong background in both professional and project-based building surveying work
- Experience in contract administration and client-facing roles
- Good knowledge of CDM regulations, building regulations, and statutory compliance
- Commercially aware with the ability to manage client relationships
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
