The Opportunity

My client is a highly regarded national property consultancy with an established presence across the Scottish rural property market.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Rural Surveyor to join its Rural Consultancy team, with flexibility to be based in Perth and/or Edinburgh.

The position can be shaped around the experience and specialism of the successful individual. My client is particularly interested in candidates with rural valuation expertise, although professionals seeking a broader role encompassing Landlord & Tenant, access and rights, valuation and general rural consultancy will also be considered.

The successful candidate will advise a diverse client base across Scotland, combining technical rural property expertise with strong commercial judgement and client relationship skills.

The Role

Responsibilities may include:

  • Undertaking Red Book valuations across rural and prime property assets.

  • Providing valuations for taxation, trusts, secured lending, financial reporting and expert witness purposes.

  • Advising private clients on access, rights and related rural property matters.

  • Providing strategic advice to agricultural landlords and tenants.

  • Advising on rent reviews, tenancy relinquishments and assignments.

  • Supporting existing estate management clients with broader rural consultancy requirements.

  • Preparing clear, commercially focused reports and recommendations.

  • Managing client relationships and providing practical, strategic advice.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across rural agency, research and other specialist property disciplines.

  • Identifying and developing new valuation and consultancy opportunities.

Valuation & Consultancy

Candidates with a particular specialism in valuation will have the opportunity to work across a technically varied portfolio of rural and prime assets throughout Scotland.

For those seeking a broader remit, the role can incorporate a mix of Landlord & Tenant, access and rights, valuation and general rural consultancy work.

The successful individual will be expected to provide considered and commercially relevant advice, often on complex rural property matters, while maintaining strong long-term relationships with clients and professional advisers.

Business Development

At the more senior end of the appointment, there will be scope to take an active role in developing the consultancy offering.

This may include:

  • Growing existing client relationships.

  • Winning new valuation and consultancy instructions.

  • Developing relationships with landowners and professional advisers.

  • Identifying cross-referral opportunities across the wider business.

  • Contributing to the continued growth and profile of the Scottish Rural Consultancy team.

About You

My client is seeking a confident and commercially minded rural property professional with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of clients and stakeholders.

You are likely to demonstrate:

  • Experience within rural property, valuation, Landlord & Tenant or rural consultancy.

  • Strong knowledge of the Scottish rural and agricultural property market.

  • The ability to provide clear, strategic and commercially considered advice.

  • Strong relationship management and communication skills.

  • Confidence dealing with private clients, landowners and professional advisers.

  • The ability to manage contentious matters and work towards practical resolutions.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing instructions.

  • A self-motivated and commercially aware approach.

  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a wider team.

Candidates must be MRICS and/or FAAV qualified.

The Team

The successful candidate will join an established Scottish Rural Consultancy team working alongside colleagues across Perth, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dumfries.

The team provides both strategic and day-to-day rural property advice to a varied client base and offers access to considerable specialist knowledge across the Scottish rural market.

Career Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Rural Surveyor seeking a varied and commercially focused role within a leading national property consultancy.

The position offers scope to develop technical expertise, build client relationships, win new work and progress professionally within an established rural property platform.

All applications and initial conversations will be treated in the strictest confidence.
