A Trainee Technician is required to join the Medical Engineering Department based at the James Paget Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and committed individual to join a team, whose role is to maintain and repair a wide range of Medical Equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, and to ensure its correct operation and calibration.
Qualification requirements are NVQ Level 3 / ONC in Engineering or 2 A Levels in Mathematics and a Science-based subject. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a practical interest in Electronics and Computing. Some experience in the Electrical / Electronic / Medical Engineering fields is desirable although not essential as further academic / specialist training necessary for the post will be given.
Responsibilities
- To be trained as a member of a small team of skilled Technicians responsible for the Planned Maintenance, Service, and Repairs to a wide range of Electro-Medical, Laboratory, Renal, and X-Ray Equipment. The post holder will complete a Healthcare Science (HCS) Level 4 apprenticeship in Clinical Engineering and be trained to:
- Carry out planned maintenance, acceptance testing of new equipment, service & repair on Medical Equipment and Devices. Provide advice to Clinical & Managerial staff on purchase & use of Medical Equipment and Devices.
- Undertake Calibration of Medical and Test Equipment.
