The Role

As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the delivery of mechanical building services packages on major transport infrastructure projects across London and the South East. Current projects include works at Holmesdale Tunnel, Heathrow Airport rail infrastructure, Leighton Station and Pontoon Dock. These projects involve a mixture of station upgrades, tunnel environments, critical infrastructure, mechanical plant installations, ventilation systems, HVAC, public health services and associated building services works.

You will be involved from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, managing programmes, procurement, subcontractors, client relationships, health and safety, quality assurance and commercial performance. The role will require close collaboration with operational teams, design engineers, commercial staff and client representatives to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing mechanical building services packages from award through to completion
  • Producing and managing programmes and short-term look-ahead plans
  • Procurement of plant, materials and subcontractors
  • Managing technical submittals, RFIs and design coordination
  • Monitoring project costs, variations and commercial performance
  • Leading site teams and subcontractors
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures
  • Managing commissioning activities and final handover documentation
  • Maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships

The Person

You will already be operating as a Mechanical Project Manager, Senior Mechanical Site Manager or Mechanical Contracts Manager within the building services sector. Experience within rail, transport infrastructure, airports, tunnels, stations, Network Rail environments, London Underground or other critical infrastructure projects would be highly advantageous, although candidates from commercial, healthcare, industrial or large-scale M&E construction backgrounds will also be considered.

You should have strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services and be comfortable taking ownership of multiple stakeholders, programmes and project deliverables. Ideally you will possess:

  • Mechanical building services background
  • Experience delivering projects between £500k and £10m+
  • Strong client-facing and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, pipework and plant installations
  • SMSTS and CSCS
  • Ability to manage programme, quality and commercial performance

Operating within live rail, airport and critical infrastructure settings, they have built a reputation for delivering technically demanding projects where quality, safety and programme are paramount.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to strengthen their operational team with the appointment of a Mechanical Project Manager.
